AVERAGE AGE OF 1938 IS 18 YEARS, FOUR MONTHS

YOUNGEST MAN SINCE 1929 WAS 14 YEARS, FOUR MONTHS

That mythical figure, the average Harvard Freshman, is just exactly 18 years and four months old, according to statistics released by the University yesterday, while the extremes are 15 years, six months and 24 years, eight months.

Although the total membership of Freshman classes has varied widely in the last six years, the average age of the classes has not varied more than a month from this year's figure of 18 years, four months.

Harvard's youngest Freshman during the years since 1929 was a member of the Class of 1937, who entered college at the tender age of 14 years, four months, but this figure was counteracted by a man in the Class of 1935 who was 33 years, four months old.

The age of Freshman since 1929 has alternated between 18 years, four months, and 18 years, three months in perfect rotation. Last year it was 18 years, three months.
