PHI BETA KAPPA TO ELECT 11 MEMBERS THIS MONTH

Choice of Usual 15 Reduced Because of Misunderstanding

Only 11 men will be elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society this June instead of the usual 15 because of a misunderstanding in the fall elections.

It was thought by the graduate committee which had charge of those elections that an amendment to the constitution proposed last spring, which would make all men receiving magna cum laude honors automatic members had passed, when in reality it, had failed. Under this impression 34 men were elected to the Society last fall instead of the usual 30. The standing of these our men thus chosen will not be affected but no such elections will be made in the future.
