SEEDED PLAYERS ADVANCE IN FALL TENNIS TOURNEY

FIRST ROUND DOUBLES MATCHES MUST BE PLAYED TODAY

The end of the second day's play in the University fall tennis tournament finds 42 second round matches completed and five men who have won their brackets in the round before the quarter finals.

Favorites still advanced without exception, but the competition yesterday proved of a higher caliber than on the opening day.

Alden Briggs '25, seeded number one, advanced another notch. Today he encounters C. P. Putnam 1G.B. in a match that should go far towards determining the semi-finalist in the upper quarter.

J. W. Lane 2G.B. after a closely contested match that lasted three sets, gained his third round bracket.

W. L. Coleman 3L, seeded third, encountered no opposition in his first round match, and raced through two sets without the loss of a game. His way to the semi-finals is blocked by P. M. Lenbert '27, who also won his initial encounter, and if forms holds true, should meet Coleman in the round before the semi-finals.

In the lower half only one man, N. K. Richtmyer 3G.B., completed his second round match. He won a 4--6, 6--1, 10--8 decision from E. B. Hinckley 2G.B.

Captain J. F. W. Whitbeck '27, playing his first match, swept aside E. D. Pratt '27, and should encounter little resistance from W. E. Beer '26 today.

The management announces that all men who are behind in the singles matches must play two matches today. Doubles competition will start today and initial matches must be completed by tonight. The draw sheet is posted at the Squash Shop.
