1927 WRESTLERS COME FROM BEHIND TO DRAW FIRST MEET

Ayre's Decisive Victory in Last Bout Ties Score Against Springfield

The victory of R. W. Ayre in the unlimited class at Hemenway gymnasium Saturday afternoon tied the score against the Springfield Y. M. C. A. Freshmen and saved the day for the 1927 matmon.

M. B. Rapoport and H. R. Wood won falls in the 125 and 145-pound classes early in the meet, giving the Crimson a commanding lead over Springfield, which had only the decisive victory of Lewis over J. C. Hinkle to its credit. With the score 10-3 against them, however, the visitors rallied. Bartlett's aggressive attack overwhelmed J. H. Campbell, whose shoulders were pinned to the mat in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. In the 175-pound class Wadlund threw W. H. Ennis in 5 minutes and 15 seconds, and Springfield held a lead of three points. As the 115-pound class was not contested, Ayre's victory brought the final score to a tie, 18-13.
