To the Editor of the CRIMSON:

May I say in regard to my recent talk before the Harvard Liberal Club that whatever views I expressed on that occasion were my personal views?

There has, I believe, been some tendency ton conclude that I was attempting to present the views of The Christian Science Monitor. This is not the case.

You may be interested to know that The Christian Science Monitor has suggested a peace plan which has received international attention. This plan, which certainly recommends itself to those who served in the last war, proposes a constitutional amendment whereby.

In the event of a declaration of war, the property, equally with the persons, lives and liberties of all citizens, shall be subject to conscription for the defense of the Nation, and it shall be the duty of the President to propose, and of Congress to enact, the legislation necessary to give affect to this amendment.

In suggesting, and endorsing, this peace plan, The Christian Science Monitor has maintained that if war could be made as repellant to all classes as it is to those who must fight, the likelihood of war would be greatly reduced.

A Bill will be introduced at the present session of Congress proposing the enactment of the plan which I have outlined.

This somewhat detailed explanation will, I believe, make clear both the fact that I was not speaking for The Christian Science Monitor at the Harvard Liberal Club and also that The Christian Science Monitor, standing as it does for peace, has endorsed a very definite proposal toward that end.
