YALE WINS SOCCER GAME BY SCORING IN SECOND PERIOD

Teams Use Few Substitutes Because of Close Score--University Handicapped by Absence of Lamont and Byington

NEW HAVEN, CONN., November 24.--In a game hard-fought on the part of both teams, the Yale soccer eleven defeated the Crimson here today, by a score of 1-0.

A strong wind blowing across the field made a kicking game difficult. The Eli tally came in the first third of the second half, when Caldwell, the Blue center forward, scored on a clever long shot. Caldwell and Bahr were the stars of the Bulldog eleven, while J. M. Begg '24 and F. G. Wale '25 showed up well for the University.

Yale did not use any substitutes and the University used only two because of the closeness of the score. The Crimson men put up a good game but were plainly handicapped by the absence of Corliss Lamont '24 and A. J. Byington '24, who were the two stars before their injury.
