1921 TRACK TEAM HUMBLED BY EXETER IN STADIUM, 69 TO 39

Krogness Scored 21 Out of 39 Points Credited to His Team.--Fast Times Made.

The Freshman track team suffered its first defeat of the year in a meet held with Exeter on Soldiers Field Saturday afternoon, a score of 69 points being made by the school-boy runners, as compared with 39 by the Freshmen. Although no records were broken, several very fast times were made, especially in the 220-yard dash. Exeter won eight of the possible 12 first places and pressed the Freshmen runners hard in all the events.

C. G. Krogness; captain of the 1921 team, was the highest scorer of the afternoon, getting 21 of the 39 points credited to his team. In the 120-yard high hurdles, the 220-yard low hurdles, and running high jump he won first place, and second place in the running broad jump and shot put. E. O. Gourdin ranked second for the Freshmen with a first place in the running broad jump, second place in the 220-yard dash, and third place in the 100-yard dash.

In the sprints, Torkleson of Exeter was prominent, capturing the first places in the 100-yard and 220-yard dashes. In the latter his time was 22 1-5 seconds. Honors in the field events went to Exeter with first places in the shot put and hammer throw, and all three places in the pole vault; while in the high jump and broad jump the Freshmen scored first places.
