Freshmen Debaters Lay Plans For Interdormitory Contests

The Freshman Debating Club held its second meeting of the year in the Smith Halls Common Room last evening at 7.30 o'clock, at which plans for a series of interdormitory debates were completed. The trials will be in the Smith, Gore and Standish Common Rooms for the respective interdormitory teams, from 5 to 6 o'clock on Monday afternoon, February 25, and from 8.15 to 9.30 o'clock on the same evening. The question for the trials will be the same as that for the University triangular debate: "Resolved, That, except in so far as is necessary to conceal military and naval secrets from the enemy, the United States Government should take no measures to prevent the publication and circulation of any paper." Teams chosen from each dormitory will debate on a subject to be announced later on March 8, 13 and 18; each team will uphold against one opponent the affirmative and against the other the negative. Individual loving cups, offered by former University debaters, will be presented to the members of the winning team.

A second call for candidates for the University debating manager competition has been issued. Those who failed to come out yesterday will not be seriously handicapped, but should report as soon as possible to R. S. Tucker '18 at Holworthy 20.
