FIVE PRIZE CONTESTS TO CLOSE

Tomorrow Last Day for Receiving Theses In Three Departments.

Five prize contests will close tomorrow. It will be the last day for handing in compositions for the Bowdoin, Francis Boott, Lloyd McKim Garrison, George Arthur Knight, and Menorah Society prizes.

The Bowdoin Prizes are divided into two groups for dissertations in English and in the classics. In the English group there is a first prize of $250 and two second prizes of $100 each; in the Greek and Latin group there were two prizes of $50 each. The Francis Boott Prize is one of $100 for the best concerted vocal music composition. The Lloyd McKim Garrison Prize is given for the best poem on a selected subject, and consists of the sum of $100 and a silver medal. The George Arthur Knight Prize of $30 is awarded for the best composition in instrumental music.

Essays for the Menorah Society Prize are on a subject relating to the works and achievements of the Jewish people. For the best of these a prize of $100 is given.

After tomorrow no more theses of candidates for the degree of Ph.D. in 1917 in the Division of Ancient Languages, of Modern Languages, and of History, Government and Economics will be received. It is also the last day on which applications can be made by candidates for second-year honors.
