FOOTBALL SEASON PREMIONS

Good Material Left From Last Year's Squad.

Plans are already being formulated for the football season next fall. Managers are collecting statistics and addresses from the prospective squad in preparation for summoning the men back to early practice which will probably begin after the first two weeks of September. Of the men who started the game against Yale last fall, only three will be available this coming season. They are K. B. G. Parson '16, D. J. Wallace '16, and Captain E. W. Mahan '16. However, there are many substitutes who played effectively against Yale that show great promise of being developed into valuable first string players this fall.

In the line three veterans of two years ago who were unable to play last fall will be available: E. W. Soucy '16, J. A. Gilman, Jr., '16, and R. R. Cowen '16. With Wallace at centre, Cowen at on of the guards, and Parson and Gilman at tackles, the centre of the line ought to be pretty strong. The other guard position will be filled by a man from the substitutes or from the Freshman squad of last fall. It offers a good opportunity for a new man to break in. E. W. Soucy, who was injured last fall, will probably be used at end where he was playing at the time of his injury. C. A. Coolidge, Jr., '17 and A. J. Weatherhead '16 are other "H" men who played at end last year and ought to make a good bid for a regular position next fall. J. L. Bigelow '16, R. C. Curtis '16, and D. P. Morgan, Jr., '16 are other men who will make a strong fight for line positions.

The backfield candidates, of whom G. A. McKinlock '16, W. Whitney '16, and R. S. C. King '16 are the most promising, will be materially strengthened by the addition of several Freshmen, including T. H. Enwright '18. Captain E. W. Mahan '16 will of course play one of the backfield positions. D. C. Watson '16 is the most promising man for quarterback but it is possible that W. Willcox, Jr., '17 will be used in this position, Murray Taylor '18, who ran the 1918 team, and J. A. Doherty '16, who directed the second team last fall, are both capable players.
