TWO VICTORIES AND A DEFEAT FOR TENNIS TEAMS

University Defeated by Longwood.--Freshman and Second Teams Winners.

The University tennis team was defeated six matches to three, by the Longwood Cricket Club on the Longwood courts in Brookline yesterday afternoon. Owing to the strong wind, play was somewhat handicapped and the tennis, though spectacular was not consistently good.

R. N. Williams, 2d, '16 defeated N. W. Niles '09, 6-3, 7-5; G. C. Caner '17 defeated A. S. Dabney '10, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3; H. C. Johnson defeated W. Rand 3d, '17, 6-1, 6-1; G. P. Gardner, Jr., '10 defeated L. Curtis '16, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2; R. C. Seaver defeated J. Wooldredge '16, 6-0, 6-3; I. C. Wright defeated J. S. Brown, Jr., '17, 6-3, 6-2.

In the doubles Caner and Williams defeated Dabney and Niles, 6-2, 6-1; Gardner and Johnson defeated Doty and Rand 6-1, 8-6; Seaver and Wright defeated Curtis and Wooldredge, 6-1, 6-1.

Niles and Dabney were former intercollegiate doubles champions.

The 1918 tennis team decisively defeated St. Mark's at Southboro, yesterday afternoon, taking every match in both singles and doubles. E. B. Benjamin '18 defeated R. Rand, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2; D. K. Dunmore '18 defeated B. Senno, 6-4, 6-0; H. Talcott '18 defeated M. Bradley, 6-1, 6-4; L. E. Green '18 defeated H. Bigelow, 6-3, 6-2; R. C. Cook '18 defeated H. Crosby, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, and E. B. Benedict '18 defeated J. Caner, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.

In the doubles Talcott and Benjamin defeated Rand and Bradley, 7-5, 6-4; Cook and Dunmore defeated Senno and Bigelow, 6-8, 6-3, 6-2, and Green and Benedict defeated Crosby and Caner, 6-4, 7-5.

The University second tennis team easily defeated Boston College on the Jarvis Field Courts yesterday, winning every match, both singles and doubles. F. Boyer '16 defeated McLaughlin, 6-2, 6-3; H. Morgan '17 defeated Hurley, 6-1, 6-1; R. Z. Crane '17 defeated De Lorme, 6-3, 6-2; H. Francke '15 defeated McCabe, 6-1, 6-1. In the doubles Boyer and Morgan defeated McLaughlin and McCabe, 6-2, 6-0; and Francke and Crane defeated Hurley and De Lorme, 6-1, 6-3.
