Communication

The Importance of Class Rowing.

[We invite all men in the University to submit communications on subjects of timely interest.]

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

The importance of good class crews as one of the prime factors in the building up of successful University crews should never be underestimated. Material in the class crews which shows real promise is liable at any time to be taken up to the University squad.

Now class crews also afford a chance to learn rowing and as such, men without experience are especially desired. Of late years the sentiment seems to have grown up that unless rowing was begun in the Freshman year there is no use in taking it up. If a man wants to row, lack of experience should never hold him back. The man who really wants to row can soon learn the sport.

Some of the classes already have three class crews and it is hoped that the classes which have not as yet got out this many will try to organize them as soon as possible, so that graded races for seconds and thirds may be arranged.  ELLIOTT CARR CUTLER.
