Long Row for University Crew

The University crew had its second hard row yesterday, when it rowed down-stream to the Longwood bridge in short stretches, then into the basin beyond the Harvard bridge and back to the Longwood in two long stretches, and on the return had a close brush with the second. Blagden coxswained again.

In the second crew Corbett was moved to number 7, Montgomery was taken from the four-oar and put in at 5, and Arnold coxswained. As this left only three men for the four-oar the boat did not go out; two of the men rowed in singles and the other ran along the bank.

Wray coached from a single scull, as the launch "John Harvard," which was examined yesterday by the local Government inspectors, was condemned until provided with the equipments required by the new law. It is hoped, however, that the "Veritas" will be in condition for use today and the "John Harvard" fitted out by tomorrow afternoon.

In the first Freshman crew Williams was tried at stroke and Faulkner went back to his place at 7. Several changes were made in the second boat. The third and fourth crews are in a very unsettled condition owing to the frequent changes, but a cut will probably be made early next week.
