Freshman Debate.

The final trial debate to select speakers for the Harvard freshman debate of May 15, was held last evening in Harvard 1. F. Lawrence presided. The question for debate was "Resolved, That there should be a large and immediate increase in the navy of the United States." The eleven men selected at the preliminary trial debate held Tuesday, were: F. R. Stoddard, G. Bancroft, W. Soderling, V. Taylor, P. G. Carleton. W. Morse, F. B. Granger, F. C. Sutro, A. E. Branch, F. O. White, W. H. Conroy, Jr. The judges, Professor Briggs, Professor Baker, and Mr. Hayes, selected Carleton, Conroy, and Morse, as the principal speakers, and F. O. White, alternate. These men will meet Professor Baker some time next week to consult on the work of preparation for the debate. The question will be the same as above. The Yale Freshman Union has not yet made its decision in the choice of sides.
