Letter from Major McKinley.

In response to a telegram to Major McKinley announcing the result of the CRIMSON'S mock election, the following letter was received last night from the major's private secretary:

CANTON, OHIO, October 23, 1896.

Mr. C. F. PRESCOTT, Care HARVARD DAILY CRIMSON, Cambridge, Mass.

My Dear Sir:- I am directed by Major McKinley to inform you that he received your telegram notifying him of the result of the poll of the students of Harvard University.

Major McKinley is highly appreciative of the manifestation of partiality shown by the poll.

He regrets that, owing to the great demands upon his time, it is impossible for him to make personal acknowledgement of your letter.
