The Holy Cross Game.

The 'varsity nine will play the Holy Cross team on Holmes Field this afternoon at four o'clock. This game will, without doubt, be the hardest contest which the nine has had this year. The Holy Cross nine is a very strong organization, and can be depended upon to make the game exceedingly lively for any team they play against. They defeated Brown recently without much difficulty, and have beaten several other strong college teams. Stafford, who is pitching for the nine, is an exprofessional, having pitched for the Worcester team for two or three seasons. Besides being a good pitcher he is a heavy batter; two years ago in the games between Worcester and Harvard his batting was the feature of the games. O'Neil, the first baseman, is another player who has made a reputation for himself. Captain Anson, of the Chicago team, thinks that O'Neil is one of the coming players of the country. The batting order of the Worcester nine will be as follows: O'Neil, 1b,; Mahoney, 2b ; Merritt, c.; Cain, l.f.; Stafford, p.; J. Kelley, r.f.; W. Kelly, c.f.; T. Lynch, s.s.; J. Lynch, 3b.

Captain Dean will put his strongest team in the field, and a great game may be expected. The batting order will be as follows: Dean, 2b.; Hallowell, c.f; Hovey, s.s.; Trafford, 1b.; Frothingham, r.f; Alward, l.f.; Cook, 3b.; Cobb, c.; Bates, p.
