The Second Game with Dartmouth.

Dartmouth put in a different man to pitch for her yesterday and Harvard did not hit the ball quite so often or so hard as on Wednesday. Dartmouth's fielding was also better than in the game before, but was still weak. Harvard's fielding was again almost first rate. Howe pitched a good, steady game, and fielded his position well. But when the Dartmouth men did hit him they hit him hard. Decidedly the feature of the game was Alward's magnificent running catch in the fifth inning of a long, high fly from Ferguson's bat. Soule was again on second base, as Dean's leg is not yet in quite good enough condition for him to play ball with safety. Mason took Cook's place at third. The latter strained his leg so badly on Wednesday in sliding to the plate that he will probably be unable to play for some time. Mason played a good game, throwing the one ball that he fumbled quickly enough to cut the runner off at first. Hovey's work at the bat was very fine. His second three base hit would have been a home run, if he had not unfortunately tumbled down at first.

Dartmouth made her run fin the first inning. Abbott, the first man at the bat, hit to centre for three bases and came in on Baehr's sacrifice fly to the same part of the field.

Harvard's runs were made in the second, sixth and seventh. In the second, Trafford and Alward scored on a hit, two sacrifices, three stolen bases, and a wild throw. In the sixth, with two men out Hovey made a fine three bagger to left. Trafford made a scratch hit which brought Hovey in. He himself came home on a stolen base, an error by Ferguson, and a wild throw by Joyce. The last run was made in the seventh by Mason. He got a base on balls, stole second came in on Ferguson's fumble of Howe's hit.

The game was played on Holmes Field, which is in excellent condition.
