Rowing at Cornell and Columbia.

The Cornell boating management is showing great energy, and already the crew is practically chosen. Eight of the following nine men will row in the boat: Benedict, '91, Marston, '92, Wolfe, '92, Hill, '93, Witherbee, '93, Barr, '93, Kelley, '93, Griffith, L. S., and Young, '93. Benedict, Wolfe, Hill, and Marston are last year's men, and will probably row at their old places, namely, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The most marked fault of the crew is its light weight.

The Columbia crew is not so far along, but has been in moderate training for several weeks. Chas. H. Mellen '92, who stroked the Brazenose College crew at Oxford for three years, is acting as coach. The candidates are: Metcalf, captain, 165 lbs.; Warner, 170; W. Taintor, 160; McKee, 160, S. Taintor, 150; Romaine, 170; Chrystie, 158; Prince, 174; Woods, 165; Pomeroy, 158; Oakes, 152; Camp, 165. Of these men McKee, Prince, Chrystie, and Metcalf are expected to do the best work.
