It is encouraging to hear such a favorable report of the Mott Haven team. Under the direction of an instructor who has had great success, we look forward to a winning team. But both Yale and Princeton also send excellent reports of the condition of their intercollegiate teams, and each declares that her chance of making a line showing is very good. It will not do, therefore, for Harvard to depend upon the result as it appears when figured out on paper. The result depends on what is done on the track, and this depends directly upon the character of the work done throughout the training season.
