This afternoon on Holmes field, commencing at 4 o'clock, the annual baseball game with Dr. Pope's nine will take place. This nine, it may be well to inform the unsophisticated freshmen, is merely the old time Beacons, supporting their great phenomenal pitcher, Dr. Pope. Both sides are out for a holiday, and fun is likely to ensue. Although the "Doctor" has said that he expects today will be the event of his life, and it is rumored that his delivery will be marvelously puzzling, we do not look forward to a defeat for our nine. Instead, if their streak of batting has lasted over from Saturday, we shall expect to see them derive much benefit from practice in base running. With this warning before them, we cannot expect otherwise than to see a large audience assembled to witness the game.
