One of the pleasantest events which take place during the college year is the contest for the Boylston Prizes which occurred last evening in Sanders Theatre. The speaking was unusually good, especially when we consider that the entire training falls upon one instructor.

As to the award of the prizes, it is, perhaps, difficult to speak. Next to the Burrar's lottery, there is no event which results more unexpectedly than the award of the judges in these contests for declamation, and this year has not proved an exception to the general rule.
