FACT AND RUMOR.

The ball game between candidates for the Freshman nine was not played yesterday.

The subject of Professor Hill's lecture this torenoon will be "Nathaniel Hawthorne."

Season tickets for the base ball games will be on sale at the Beacon game next Thursday.

Mr. Smith, of the Law School, who injured himself last Sunday, is thought to be now out of danger.

All who intend to present themselves as candidates for Second-Year Honors must hand in their names today.

The proposed tug-of-war between teams from the Advocate and HERALD-CRIMSON has been give up, the challenge having been declined by the Advocate men.

As there was no quorum present at the meeting of directors of Memorial Hall yesterday, the meeting adjourned until today at 1.30, when important business will come up for consideration.

The Princeton University ball nine was selected on Saturday as follows: J. M. Harlan, '84, pitcher; A. Moffatt, '84, catcher; D. Edwards, '85, first base; T. C. Cooper, '86, second base; L. A. Vaneltin, '87, third base; C. Vanansdale, '85, short-stop; C. S. Clark, '85, left field; captain E. E. S. Belknap, '84, centre field; G. C. Reynolds, '86, right field. This team is subject to change as the season progresses. A consolidated nine is to be formed from which the university substitutes are to be chosen.

Many junior Themes seem to be missing.

The examination in Freshman Greek will be held in the following rooms: Prof. Croswell's sections: Adv. 1. in Mass. 3; i.-iv. in Mass 1. Prof. Dyer's sections: Adv. II., and vi. in Sever 37. Minimum sections in U. E. R. Conditioned men go to Sever 37.

A new college for women will be opened in October at Westbridgeport, Mass., the funds for the support of which were left by the late William Howard, and are in the hands of a board of trustees. Miss Helen Magill will be at the head of this institution which hopes to rival Wesley and Vassal in excellence.

The following men will compose the nine in the game with the Beacons on Fast Day: Winslow, P.; Smith, 1 b.; Beamen, 3 b.; LeMoyne, l. f.; Lovering, r. f.; Crocker, c. and c. f.; Phillips, 2 b.; Baker, s. s.; Allen, c. f. and c. Substitutes, Keep and Boyden. Nichols, '86, will pitch for the Beacons. The game will be called at 3 P. M.
