It is a curious fact, not generally known, that once in every twenty years the college authorities are obliged to bar up all of the entrances to the college yard, in order that the privilege of passing through, which the public now enjoy, may not become a right by prescription. If this precaution were not taken it would be impossible to prevent the public from flooding the yard on class day.
