- Not one of the Freshman class at Wellesley escaped hazing, which consisted of a bouquet presented to each '81 man (?) and a reception to the class.

- The second annual field meeting of the Inter-collegiate Athletic Association 'took place on the grounds of the New York Athletic Club, July 6. But four colleges were represented, and the attendance was small. The contests were as follows: -

One-mile walk, won by Columbia; time, 7 m. 30 s.

Running high jump, won by University of Pennsylvania; height, 4 ft. 11 in.

Half-mile run, won by Columbia; time, 2 m. 20 1/2 s.

Pole-vaulting, won by Columbia; height, 7 ft. 9 in.

Hundred-yard dash, won by the University of Pennsylvania; time, 10 1/4 s.

Putting the shot (16 lbs.), won by Princeton; distance, 33 ft.
