THE fact that a majority of the old crew are to continue in their places seems to have hindered applications to fill the vacancies. This is not as it should be. The crew still have need of men, and those who have any ambition to sit in this year's boat should at once present themselves. The crew are now using the eight-oar and the pair-oar. The thing most needed to assist in the practice is a steam launch, and we hope that some means will be taken to provide such a boat. For private reasons, Mr. Watson has been unable to coach the crew this year, and no new coach has as yet been selected.
