Varsity Nine Loses to Terriers Again, 16-4

Four-Run Rally in First Frame Wasted as Connolly's Debut Fails to Silence B.U.'s Bats

Adding insult to injury, the Boston University Terriers lambasted the Varsity nine for the second time to the tune of 16 to 4 last Friday at Nickerson Field.

Friday's game was an even sorrier performance than Harvard's earlier defeat at the hands of B.U. in the first game of the summer season, 12 to 6. This defeat gives the Crimson a record of two wins and two losses for the season.

Samborski's men who were slated as much-improved over the losers of the first B.U. contest, started out like world-beaters in the opening half of the initial frame, but this early flurry netted only four tallies. In the home half of the first, B.U. took over the lead with a six-run deluge, and Harvard did not get on the good end of the score for the rest of the lop-sided contest.

Harvard's Bid in First

B.U.'s first inning deluge broadened into a respectable flood when the Terriers picked up two runs in the second, five in the fifth, and a final three in the sixth.

Harvard's bid for victory came in the first after Tom Sullivan flied out to right and the next four batters, Bill Harford, Johnny Fiorentino, Herb Neal, and Charlie Senseney, all singled.

Harford scored on Neal's hit, and Fiorentino was knocked in by Senseney's bingle. Neal scored when the Terrier left fielder bobbled Senseney's single, allowing Chuck to reach second.

Gibson Makes Games Big Hit

After Bob Carlson grounded out second to first, Crawford Hubbell's single drove Senseney in, ending the Crimson scoring for the afternoon.

Boston U. sewed up the game in the first by linking four walks, three hits and an error by Connolly to push across six runs. The big hit of the inning was Gibson's four-bagger with two aboard.
