MEMORIAL SOCIETY TO HOLD ANNUAL DINNER THIS EVENING

Will Elect New Members from Junior and Sophomore Classes.

For the first time since the war the Memorial Society of the University will hold tonight their annual dinner at 7 o'clock in the Trophy Room of the Union. W. C. Lane '81, Librarian of Widener Library and President of the Society, will preside at the meeting and speak on the work of the society during the war.

One of the principal purposes of this dinner will be to elect the first group of members from the Sophomore and Junior classes, and to appoint the several committees which will handle the society's business. Among the other speakers of the evening will be Dean C. N. Greenough, a former member, who will tell of the society's activities in the past. J. G. King '20, secretary, will discuss the plans for the future. Treasurer C. W. Eliot, 2nd, '20, will read the annual report.

Organized about 20 years ago, the Memorial society has performed a valuable service for the University in publishing the University Guide and in placing tablets where they are necessary to commemorate any event. The society has also been in charge of the work of compiling the lists of occupants that are placed in the Senior dormitories in the Yard.

During the last year and a half the chief work of the society has been directed toward correcting and completing the lists of the University Honor Roll, which is now in place in Widener Library. The society is, however, only indirectly concerned with the erection of a permanent war memorial, as a regular committee to handle that phase of the work has been appointed by the Board of Overseers.
